Team StrategyMost of the guidelines presented, demand the use of a flexible team strategy. Tactics, formations, positionings and player types are common concepts in soccer and a good RoboCup team must use them in order to be able to play soccer. CMUnited brought the concepts of formation and positioning to RoboSoccer [2,3] and used dynamic switching of formations depending on the result and time of the game. We extended this concept in FC Portugal and our team strategy definition is based on a set of player types (roles) and a set of tactics that include several formations for different game situations (defense, attack, etc). We propose [1] (and use in our team) a team strategy composed by tactics that are composed by different formation to use in different situations. Formations assign each player a strategic position and a given player type. Player types are defined at three different levels: strategic behavior, ball possession behavior and ball recovery behavior. Although this was not essential in RoboCup 2000, changing tactics, having different formations for different situations and having different player types, will be crucial in RoboCup 2001! |
