What are we doing with the RoboCup Initiative? 

"The ultimate goal of the RoboCup project is By 2050, develop a team of fully autonomous humanoid robot that can win against the human world champion team in soccer!"

What are we doing with FC Portugal research? 

We are researching the way of creating the brains that will enable the 2050, humanoid robots to play better than real soccer players in a team!

What is our approach to accomplish that?

We identified 14 different research topics needed to accomplish the creation of this! This identification was based on:

• gathering soccer knowledge from experts (professional coaches, players and fans);
• the study of the soccer server;
• the study of several broad research fields: autonomous agents, multi-agent collaboration and communication, strategy acquisition, knowledge representation, real-time reasoning, intelligent robotics, sensor-fusion, optimization, etc. 

We carried out research in 10 of these research issues and came up with 17 original proposals (see our research areas page)
